How to play Bid Euchre
Take tricks to reach 52 points with your partner opposite you.
These are the rules for the PlayBurst version. Other versions may play differently.
Rules and controls
1. The deal
A 32-card double deck: the jack, queen, king and ace of each suit, twice over, dealt eight cards each. Your partner sits across the table.
2. Bid
Say how many of the eight tricks your side will take, from one to eight, then pick trump: one of the four suits, or No trump. Passing costs nothing.
3. Or name no trump
In no trump there are no bowers at all and the jack drops to the bottom of its suit, below the queen. Every trick goes to the highest card of the suit led, so aces and kings are what a no trump bid is made of.
4. Or go alone
A solo contract claims every trick: 12 points with two cards from your partner, 18 with one, 24 with no help at all. Miss a single trick and you lose that same amount.
5. Play the hand
Follow the suit led if you can. Highest trump wins, or the highest card of the suit led. A made bid scores the tricks you actually took, so overtricks count.
