How to play Cribbage

Rules and controls

1. 1. Discard to the crib

   You are dealt six cards and put two into the crib. The crib belongs to the dealer, so feed it only when it is yours.

2. 2. The cut

   A card is cut to sit with both hands. If it is a jack the dealer takes two for it, which is called his heels.

3. 3. The play

   Take turns laying cards, calling the running total. Fifteen and thirty-one score two; pairs, triples and runs score as they appear. Never go past thirty-one.

4. 4. Go, and the last card

   With nothing that fits under thirty-one you say go. The other player lays what they can, and takes one for the last card. The count then starts again, led by the player who said go.

5. 5. The show

   Count your hand with the starter card: every fifteen is two, pairs two, runs one a card, four of a suit four, a jack of the starter suit one.
