How to play Tile Rummy
Be the first at the table to lay every tile on your rack as runs and sets.
These are the rules for the PlayBurst version. Other versions may play differently.
Rules and controls
1. Choose the table
Two, three or four seats. You are one of them and the rest are computer opponents, each with a name and a rack of fourteen, and turns go round the table in order.
2. Know a meld
A run is three or more numbers in a row in one colour, like 4-5-6 blue. A set is three or four of one number in different colours. A joker stands in for any one tile.
3. Open with thirty
Your first play has to be melds made only of your own tiles adding up to 30 or more. Until you have opened you cannot touch anything already on the table.
4. Play or draw
On your turn, drag a tile from your rack onto a + slot at either end of a meld, or onto the open table for a new meld; or tap a tile and then tap a slot. Press Done when every meld is valid, or Draw to take a tile and end your turn.
5. Rearrange once you have opened
Any tile on the table is yours to move, as long as everything is back in valid melds when you press Done and at least one tile came from your rack. Reset turn puts it all back, free, as often as you like.
6. Done checks, and nothing is lost
A meld that is not valid yet is outlined in red as you build it, and the counter shows what your turn is worth against the 30 you need to open. Press Done and the game names anything still wrong and leaves every tile where it is, so fix it and press Done again, or Reset turn and Draw.
7. Empty your rack
The round ends when a rack is empty, or when the pool runs dry and the player to move cannot play. The winner scores everything left on every other rack, and everyone else loses what is on their own.
