How to play Rungs
Turn the top word into the bottom one, changing a single letter at a time.
These are the rules for the PlayBurst version. Other versions may play differently.
Rules and controls
1. Read the two ends
The top rung and the bottom rung are given to you. The three between them are yours to fill, and every rung is a four-letter word.
2. Change one letter
Each rung must differ from the one above it by exactly one letter, in any position. COLD, CORD, CARD, WARD, WARM is a finished ladder.
3. Type into a rung
Tap a rung to choose it, then use the keyboard underneath. The backspace takes off the last letter you typed, on this rung or the one above.
4. Watch the rung answer
A rung fills in solid once it is a real word one letter from its neighbours, and stays a pale outline while it is not. It never costs you a turn to try.
5. Finish the ladder
The game ends the moment all five rungs read as words and every step between them is one letter. Nothing to submit, and nothing to lose.
